Larsen Salon Series: Liz Collins & Julia Bryan-Wilson

The Larsen Salon Series will host a conversation between textile artist Liz Collins and curator/art historian Julia Bryan-Wilson on February 27 at the Ligne Roset Showroom in New York. The event will explore the intersections of art, craft, and design through a queer feminist lens, with Collins revealing a special edition scarf she designed during her Artist-in-Residence at LongHouse.

Westchester Women: A Window into their Worlds

See how women ranging from a priest to a doctor to a small business owner juggled the various aspects of their lives through a series of fiber art pieces.

Thread and Canvas

We are  proud to announce its second showcase of Thread and Canvas, an exhibition curated in collaboration with artist Clare Watt. Inspired by the 1983 travelling exhibition The Artist and the Quilt, this show draws on the rich history of textile art and quilting, featuring the works of three female artists: Natalie Baxter, Lydia Donohue, Liv Ryan, and Clare Watt.

Opening Reception at Silo Gallery

Silo Gallery is proud to announce its fifth showcase, Thread and Canvas, an exhibition curated in collaboration with artist Clare Watt. Inspired by the 1983 travelling exhibition The Artist and the Quilt, this show draws on the rich history of textile art and quilting, featuring the works of three female artists: Lydia Donohue, Liv Ryan, and Clare Watt.

The exhibition will be held at the historic Silo Gallery, a 19th-century barn nestled in Upstate New York, a region where quilting has been a long-standing tradition and cultural staple.The Silo Gallery, housed in a 19th-century barn, has a rich history as a home for dairy cows and poultry. The owner also used the space as a studio, and some of his abstract creations can still be seen on the barn door. Today, the barn serves as both a gallery and a venue for entertaining. 

Artisans by Design: An Odyssey of Education for Textile Artisans in India

Judy Frater, author of “Artisans by Design: An Odyssey of Education for Textile Artisans in India,” will present her inspiring work on developing a design education program for artisans. Followed by an insightful discussion with two artisan design graduates, Adil Khatri and Pachan Siju. Stay for a special book signing and view the new exhibition featuring textiles by the artisans at NYSID’s Little Gallery.

Beyond the Surface: Contemporary Artists and Printed Textiles

Beyond the Surface: Contemporary Artists and Printed Textiles features more than 75 works by a diverse group of eight American artists: Danielle Andress, Nancy Crow, Emily Dormier, Sarah Fairchild, Letitia Huckaby, Krystle Lemonias, Stephanie Santana, and Gerri Spilka.

Enchanting Threads: The Art of Salley Mavor

The exhibition will feature a large selection of Salley Mavor’s artwork from the past 30 years, including original illustrations for her most recent picture book, MY BED: Enchanting Ways to Fall Asleep around the World. Also on display will be recent works that explore cultural diversity, migration, fashion, the natural world, and a range of social narratives, from the everyday to topical subjects.

Art of the Book & Paper Call for entries

The Rochester Public Library is looking for book artists and paper sculptors to participate in the 13th annual international juried exhibition “The Art of the Book & Paper”.
Artists 18 and older who would like to enter the show are invited to submit digital photos of their work no later than May 15, 2024. $650 in cash prizes will be awarded.
