Featured Artist

Feature artist Julia Bland loves to work large. Using a variety of materials and techniques, she creates wall hangings that are chock-full of geometric shapes, amazing imagery, and plenty of inspiring color. Learn more in “Abstract Connections.”

Business Column

Artist Beki Bright set her path in graduate school where she combined art and business . . . then succeeded in both. In our Business column, read how her art, creating screen-printed fabric and furnishings, and her business have evolved.

Process Column

Susan Maddux considers her work “sculptural painting.” Asking herself if paintings could be considered materials for other works rather than an end product, Maddux went on to create something “new.” Discover how she transforms her paintings into sculptures in our Process column.

Campus Column

Anya Molyviatis’s imaginative woven works examine how color, texture, and sound can alter our mood. In our Campus Connection column, learn how she transitioned from a career in sustainable architecture to creating fiber art that is a feast for the senses.

Contemporary Fibers: Botanicals

And speaking of a “feast for the senses,” be sure to spend plenty of time with our latest call for entry exhibition, Contemporary Fiber: Botanicals. The art in these exhibitions never disappoints. Using everything from recycled food bags to coconut shells to sterling silver, these artists molded, wove, stitched, painted, and more to present us with a compelling selection of artwork to share with you.

Featured Artist

Our other feature artist, Matt Shlian, begins with hand-drawn sketches and simple paper forms. Technology allows him to take his work into 3D, resulting in fascinating and impressive pieces of art. Be sure to read “Investigating Surface, Pattern, Repetition” to learn more about his process and his art.
