ShowUp, a nonprofit art gallery in Boston’s South end is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of artist and activist Caron Tabb‘s third solo exhibition, A Stone In my Shoe. Featuring a collection of multimedia fibre installations, the exhibition will be on view from March 7 to June 1, with a public opening reception on March 7, at 5 pm, in conjunction with SoWa’s monthly First Fridays.
With a title evoking the sensation of a persistent yet often unnoticed discomfort, Tabb’s meditations on grief, memory, compassion, and resilience emphasize texture, layers, and intricate stitching. The artist conveys themes of grief and spirituality, responding to the passing of her mother and the current rise of antisemitism. Reflecting tension between old and new, the visible and invisible, A Stone in my Shoe visualizes internal struggles to encourage dialogue and empathy.
With regular open gallery hours and a series of artist talks and events planned throughout the run of the exhibition, A Stone in my Shoe offers opportunities for contemplation and community.
